Beginning in October, those with a flair for 16th-century English culture meet for seven back-to-back weekends at the Texas Renaissance Festival. The festival claims roots reaching back to 1974, and has grown from an small affair that originally took place on only three stages, to a major event that's held on dozens of stages spanning across 50 acres and regarded as the nation's best Renaissance fair. Both young and old will enjoy the festivities that include magic shows, jousting, falconry exhibitions, and tasty treats.
