Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

With bragging rights as the world's largest rodeo and livestock exhibition event, Houston's annual Livestock Show and Rodeo attracts over 2.5 million excited fans every year. Based at Houston's famed Reliant Park, the rodeo hosts an array of different event activities over the course of three weeks, ranging from bull riding exhibitions and wine competitions, to fierce BBQ competitions and championship livestock auctions. Over 75-years-old, this massive event has a mission to promote and encourage ethical breeding and livestock raising methods while encouraging progressive education and research in the livestock industry. Proceeds from the show go to many designated scholarships and other direct educational support of Texas youth. Since 1957, the rodeo has raised over $100 million in scholarship money for college-bound students. After a day of bidding on championship goats and taking the kids to watch an exciting round of barrel racing, relax with some world-class musical entertainment or standup comedy. Past event performers include George Strait, Los Lonely Boys, Reba McEntire, and Natalie Cole. Its most legendary performances, however, date back to 1970 when Elvis Presley entertained over 295,000 fans in five unforgettable sold-out shows.
