Chevron Marathon

The Chevron Marathon attracts over 20,000 runners and more than 200,00 spectators every January, making it Houston's largest single-day athletic event. Since its inception, the course and race support has received praise by both contestants and critics alike. The single-loop course, coupled with its fast and scenic terrain, has been heralded by the Ultimate Guide to Marathons as the "fastest [American] winter marathon" and the "second fastest [American] marathon overall." Runners who aren't sure they can muster the strength to finish a full marathon, the event also features a half-marathon race. Those who don't feel like running at all can still join the fun by signing up as one of the 5,000 volunteers needed to facilitate the race.
