Dickens on the Strand Festival

Residents in nearby Galveston reserve the first weekend in every December for the annual Dickens on the Strand Festival. An event that seeks to bring the Charles Dickens era history back to life, the festival includes a fun parade on Saturday and a costume contest on Sunday. If you dress up in Victorian-era duds, you'll receive admission for half price. Other festivities include street musicians, carolers, and over 100 vendors (all in Victorian-style costume, of course) lining the strand.
